Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following strict infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Manage patient records efficiently using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear working field during procedures. Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care. Maintain a clean, organized environment adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation or records. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems including DentSoft, Open Dental, Dentrix Ascend for managing medical records and documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience with dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Ability to perform chairside assisting across various specialties like prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Knowledge of medical coding and documentation for accurate billing processes.
