Orthodontic/Sleep Apnea Assistant Department:
Dentistry | Dental Faculty Practice The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking a full-time Orthodontic Assistant for its affiliated Ohio State Dental Faculty Practice. The Orthodontic Assistant will be responsible for chairside assistance in placement of brackets, bands, archwires, auxiliary components to archwires, and appliances for bite correction; delivering clear aligner trays; educating the patient on all aspects of orthodontic treatment; cleaning and sterilizing instruments and operatories; exposing digital dental radiographs and intraoral scanning; taking intraoral impressions and completing all lab work as necessary; completing training and maintaining the fabrication, trimming, and sterilization of clear aligner trays; chairside assisting with Obstructive Sleep Apnea patients and completing all related tasks; charting into the electronic health record including medical history and medication list; all other tasks as needed.

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm
Physical Conditions:
A dental assistant needs to be able to use of both hands, dexterity in the fingers and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment. The use of feet is necessary to manipulate dental equipment. The body must be able to work from a dental stool in order to perform most dental procedures. The ability to sit and stand for duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: blood borne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; and latex.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be required. 2 years of relevant experience required in an orthodontic practice setting, current Ohio State Dental Board Dental Assistant Radiographer certification, current BLS/CPR certification, 2 years' experience with Orthodontic or Dental EHR.
Desired Qualifications:
2-4 years' experience in an orthodontic practice setting and sleep apnea knowledge/assisting experience, 2 years' experience with Orthodontic or Dental EHR, digital scanning experience, clear aligner tray fabrication knowledge and experience.
