Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team! In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced dental assisting duties that go beyond traditional roles. Your expertise will help streamline procedures, enhance patient experiences, and support the clinical team in providing top-tier general and specialized dentistry services. Responsibilities Assist the dentist with a variety of procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Perform chairside assisting with precision, including preparing treatment rooms, handling dental instruments, and managing medical imaging such as X-rays and 3D scans. Take vital signs and monitor patient comfort throughout treatments to ensure safety and well-being. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft and Dentrix to accurately document procedures, medical history, and treatment plans while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment. Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation and records. Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health best practices tailored for pediatric patients when applicable. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems for efficient record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques. Experience with dental radiography including X-ray procedures and operation of 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with general dentistry procedures confidently. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and provide clear instructions to patients. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation processes related to dental care.
