Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Comfort :
Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check-ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have. Assist with
Procedures :
Set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental procedures. Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry and ensure the dental room is well-prepared for each procedure.
Instrument Sterilization & Safety :
Follow proper sterilization procedures and ensure that all dental instruments are sanitized in compliance with health regulations.
Lab Tasks & Post-Operative Care :
Assist with lab tasks as directed and provide patients with post-operative care instructions.
Record Maintenance :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, assisting with patient charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures.
Scheduling & Office Support :
Assist in scheduling patient appointments and ensuring the office runs smoothly with minimal disruptions. Keep the dental room clean, organized, and well-stocked.
Regulated Tasks :
Perform non-surgical tasks such as coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience :
A minimum of 2 years of dental assisting experience in a clinical setting.
Certification :
Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) is required. Additional certifications such as EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) or Radiology Certifications are a plus.
Skills & Knowledge :
In-depth knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control protocols. Familiarity with dental procedures and treatments. Understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental office. Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is highly preferred.
Clinical Competence :
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing, and assist with other dental procedures.
Communication & Patient Care :
Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort. Organization & Attention to
Detail :
Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Team-Oriented :
Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing high-quality patient care.
Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus but not required.
