Job Summary:
The Neighborhood Resilience Project is looking for a Part-Time Dental Assistant for the Free Health Center of the organization. The Free Health Center provides care to people with no insurance. This position will be critical in the operations of offering free dental care.
Duties:
In this position, you will provide hands-on support to the Dentist and Hygienists and complete the prep and post work so they can more efficiently care for patients. Other duties will be triaging patients, scheduling patients, completing necessary intake, updating patient records, sterilizing and organizing the equipment and tools, assisting in dental procedures and anticipating supply needs. It is also anticipated that this role will grow quickly into more hours per week.
Responsibilities:
The Dental Assistant's primary responsibility is to prepare the examination rooms for appointments by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for the dentist. They also assist the dentist during their procedures by handing them instruments and anticipating their needs throughout the appointment. The Dental Assistant may also be responsible for greeting patients as they arrive and scheduling the patient's next appointment before they leave the clinic. The Dental Assistant will also complete lab work under the direction of the dentist.
Other duties and responsibilities include:
  • Update and maintain client's dental records
  • Assist the dentist with dental procedures
  • Take and process X-rays of patients
