Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced dental assisting duties, including chairside procedures, taking and developing X-rays, and assisting with complex restorative treatments. Your expertise will ensure smooth clinical operations while providing a welcoming environment for our patients. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments, using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency. Take and develop high-quality X-rays and medical imaging to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques and infection control protocols are strictly followed. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to document patient information accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Perform vital signs assessments and review medical history to ensure patient safety before procedures. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain a thorough understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry and pediatrics to assist with precise procedures. Operate advanced equipment such as 3D scanners and ensure proper sterilization and infection control measures are upheld throughout the clinic. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in chairside assisting across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Certification as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) or equivalent is required; additional certifications in X-ray technology are preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices related to dental records. Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for efficient documentation and record management. Experience with infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a dental clinic environment. Ability to perform X-ray imaging accurately while adhering to safety protocols for patients and staff. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and foster positive patient experiences. $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
