Job Description

Overview Join a dynamic dental team as a Dental Hygiene Assistant, where your enthusiasm and attention to detail will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. In this energetic role, you will support dentists and hygienists by preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental supplies, and ensuring all equipment is ready for patient procedures. Assist dentists and hygienists during various treatments, including cleanings, restorations, and other dental procedures, using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in accordance with infection control protocols. Record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates before procedures to monitor patient health status. Manage patient records by updating medical history, documenting procedures accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Support the dental team with administrative duties including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing medical documentation. Uphold strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments to ensure a safe clinical environment. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to effectively communicate with team members and patients. Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children in a pediatric dentistry setting. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and standard X-ray machines safely and accurately. Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols within a dental clinic environment. Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures along with specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics to assist across various treatments. Excellent chairside assisting skills combined with the ability to support the dentist during complex procedures like root canals or crown placements. Knowledge of medical coding and documentation standards necessary for accurate billing and record keeping in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
