Implants and Oral Surgery of Chattanooga Chattanooga, TN Position Overview Implants and Oral Surgery of Chattanooga is seeking a compassionate, organized, and patient-focused Surgical Assistant to join our team on a part-time, temporary basis to provide maternity leave coverage. This role is ideal for a motivated dental professional who thrives in a fast-paced oral surgery environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care. The Surgical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting our Oral Surgeons during clinical procedures, assisting with surgery and pre- and post-operative care, and ensuring every patient receives a "white glove" experience from consultation through recovery. Key Responsibilities Prepare patients for consultations and surgical procedures Keep patients informed, comfortable, and focused on optimal treatment while addressing individual needs and concerns Assist Oral Surgeons during surgical procedures and treatment appointments Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment in accordance with applicable infection control standards Clean and prepare operatories between patients Take radiographs and CT scans efficiently and accurately Prepare surgical tray setups and maintain adequate inventory levels in each operatory Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions as directed by the surgeon Accurately document patient charting, treatment notes, and surgical records in the electronic health record system Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and all applicable regulatory requirements Assist with sedation processes, including IV supplies, patient histories, post-operative monitoring, and documentation Record medications and patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures Escort and assist sedated patients following surgery Support front office operations as needed Assist with tracking and maintaining implant and surgical supply inventory Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in oral surgery, dental surgery, or a dental clinical setting Required Skills Outstanding patient service and interpersonal skills Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication abilities Excellent organizational and multitasking skills Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Proficiency with dental software and Microsoft Office applications Working Conditions This position works primarily in a clinical setting, closely assisting Oral Surgeons during a variety of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures. Responsibilities include the use of surgical instruments, radiographic equipment, and standard office technology. This is a part-time, temporary position intended to provide coverage during an employee's maternity leave. Weekly hours may vary based on patient volume and practice needs. Why Join Us?
