Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly with aseptic technique. Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs of patients before procedures and assist with medical documentation related to medical history and current health status. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to enhance understanding. Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical coding for billing purposes. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control practices, and aseptic technique. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience with EMR systems such as open dental and Archy is highly preferred. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners confidently. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Excellent communication skills suitable for working with pediatric patients and supporting a team-oriented environment focused on general dentistry or specialty areas like prosthodontics or endodontics.
