Certified Dental Assistant Location:
Claro Dental Lubbock, Texas Reports To:
Office Manager Position Summary Claro Dental is looking for a highly organized, energetic, and dependable Certified Dental Assistant to join our growing team in Lubbock. The Dental Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring efficient clinical operations, assisting providers during treatment, maintaining compliance with infection control standards, and creating a positive patient experience from start to finish. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Support Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient procedures. Assist dentists during examinations, restorative procedures, extractions, endodontic treatment, crown and bridge procedures, and other dental treatments. Perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and process digital radiographs in accordance with state regulations. Record and update patient clinical notes and treatment information accurately. Provide post-operative instructions and patient education as directed by the dentist. Monitor patient comfort and assist in managing patient anxiety throughout treatment. Sterilization and Infection Control Sterilize instruments and equipment according to OSHA, CDC, and practice protocols. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment. Ensure treatment rooms are properly stocked and prepared for daily operations. Follow all infection prevention and safety procedures consistently. Patient Care and Communication Welcome patients and help create a positive and professional experience. Explain treatment procedures and answer patient questions within the scope of the position. Assist with scheduling treatment and coordinating follow-up appointments when necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Inventory and Equipment Management Monitor clinical supplies and notify management of inventory needs. Assist with ordering and stocking dental materials and supplies. Perform routine maintenance and care of dental equipment. Report equipment issues promptly to management. Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, and administrative team members. Participate in morning huddles, team meetings, and training sessions. Support practice initiatives related to patient experience, efficiency, and growth. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas of the practice when needed. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Current Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Texas law. Current CPR/BLS certification. Ability to legally expose and process dental radiographs. Prior dental assisting experience preferred, but motivated candidates with appropriate credentials are encouraged to apply. Experience with Dentrix Ascend preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments. Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Positive attitude and commitment to patient-centered care. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to handle instruments and equipment. Visual acuity necessary to perform dental assisting duties. Compensation & Benefits $17 hourly compensation.
