In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring smooth and efficient patient care. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and confident in their dental experience. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; document treatment details accurately. Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Support infection control practices through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to prevent cross-contamination. Assist with medical documentation and coding for insurance claims and billing processes related to dental procedures. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical imaging or other diagnostic tests as required. Collaborate with the dental team in four-handed dentistry to improve efficiency during treatments. Requirements Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment with proficiency in dental assisting duties. Familiarity with Open Dental Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques aligned with OSHA guidelines. Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely; certification in radiography preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting general dentistry and specialized procedures like pediatric dentistry or medical imaging.
