Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice. This energetic position combines front desk responsibilities with clinical support, offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to patients' oral health journeys. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and assist with patient intake and scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and patient service skills. Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance authorizations, and handle billing processes utilizing systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, and EMR platforms such as eClinicalWorks or Health Information Management systems. Prepare and review medical and dental records for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking digital radiographs, and managing patient comfort. Conduct administrative duties including filing, data entry (10 key typing), appointment reminders, and managing front desk operations efficiently. Support medical coding activities by applying CPT codes, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and performing documentation review to ensure accurate billing and medical recordkeeping. Skills Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines. Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Meditech or Athenahealth is highly desirable. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and communication tasks. Prior clinic or dental office experience with a focus on patient service, medical billing, insurance verification, and office management. Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations; strong communication skills are essential. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices to safeguard patient privacy. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and medical records management. Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and a welcoming demeanor at the front desk.
