Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant and become a vital part of transforming smiles! Duties Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance installations with precision and efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays, including panoramic and cephalometric images, utilizing digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners when needed. Manage patient records using Ortho Edge ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the orthodontics receptionist to streamline clinic operations. Skills Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately and safely. Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures to patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; capable of working effectively as part of a four-handed dentistry team. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy at all times; understanding of medical coding for billing purposes is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of infection control.
