Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant II, where your expertise will directly contribute to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, welcoming environment. In this role, you will support dentists by providing efficient chairside assistance, managing medical and dental documentation, and ensuring infection control standards are upheld. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help create a smooth workflow, enhance patient experiences, and promote optimal oral health outcomes. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in general and pediatric dentistry while working with advanced dental technology and EMR systems. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques. Take and develop high-quality dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Perform chairside assisting tasks including taking vital signs, medical history updates, and explaining procedures to patients in clear dental terminology. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments and maintaining a clean clinical environment in accordance with OSHA standards. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team to ensure efficient four-handed dentistry practices and optimal patient flow. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist when needed. Maintain knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and stay updated on current practices in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics. Qualifications Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with familiarity in dental assisting procedures. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical coding and medical records management is highly desirable. Strong understanding of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes within a dental environment. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy related to oral health, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners effectively. Excellent communication skills to explain treatment plans clearly to pediatric patients and their families while demonstrating professionalism at all times. Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; certification requirements vary by region but are essential for safe imaging practices. Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment practicing four-handed dentistry techniques for enhanced patient care.
