DENTAL ASSISTANT - MOBILE CLINIC SITE OF SERVICE
White River Junction VA Medical Center, 163 Veterans Drive, White River Junction, VT 05001 DESCRIPTION Mobile dental clinic services to Veterans through the use of a mobile dental clinic that will be based out of White River Junction, Vermont and deployed to surrounding areas.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS
Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully undergo a government background investigation. Be willing to complete all required training before operating any government vehicles and adhere to all the responsibilities for operating a government vehicle
Education:
graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting program
Experience:
At least 12 months of experience
License:
o Registered with the Vermont Dental Board of Dental Examiners o Current unrestricted driver's license in the United States and ability to drive a mobile dental clinic (commercial driver's license not required)
Certificate:
o A Dental Radiological Certificate o A current BLS and or/CPR card Three recommendations attesting to clinical skills. At least one must be supervisor. Must not be on the OIG Excluded list Must complete all VA educational requirements and mandatory course, meet health screening requirements Ability to effectively speak, understand, read, and write English Be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all the services required under the contract and TO Knowledge and skill in Microsoft 365 Office programs including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
CORE DUTIES
Perform chairside assistant duties in all phases of dentistry including but not limited to, prosthodontics, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery and endodontics. Responsible for assisting dentists by preparing patients and instruments for dental treatment, measure and record vital signs, respond to basic medical emergencies, prepare surgical dressings and specimens, adjust treatment as needed to account for age specific needs of geriatric patient, perform laboratory duties as needed, and operate dental x-ray equipment, including evaluating images for diagnostic quality and utilizing dental imaging safety techniques. Operate new and existing equipment for patient treatment. The Dental Assistant shall maintain and clean dental equipment, instruments and assigned spaces according to current Infection Control policies, Reportable Medical Events (RME), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, dental chair/unit
On Call:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (7am-5:30pm) with a 30-minute unpaid break
Pay:
$40.00 - $45.00 per hour
