Job Description

Job Description Join our dynamic, growing practice as a Pediatric Dental Assistant , where you will play a vital role in supporting our dentist and ensuring that each child's experience is calm, comfortable, and even fun. This role requires not just clinical skill, but also empathy, patience, and the ability to communicate effectively with children of all ages and temperaments. Clinical Support Prepare operatories with appropriate instruments, materials, and supplies for each patient. Assist the dentist chairside during pediatric procedures including cleanings, sealants, fillings, crowns, pulpotomies, and extractions. Take and process digital x-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions as needed. Maintain infection control by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments and rooms according to OSHA and CDC guidelines. Monitor patient comfort and behavior throughout appointments, anticipating needs before and during procedures. Mix and handle dental materials (cements, composites, impression materials) correctly and efficiently. Patient Care & Communication Use age-appropriate communication techniques to help children feel comfortable and confident. Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions to parents and guardians. Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene, cavity prevention, and nutrition habits. Support children with special healthcare needs or dental anxiety using positive reinforcement and behavioral guidance techniques. Administrative & Team Support Update and maintain accurate patient records and charting. Assist with scheduling, patient flow, and sterilization rotation when needed. Participate in morning huddles, staff meetings, and continuing education. Help maintain a clean, organized, and cheerful office environment that reflects our family-friendly culture.
