In this vital role, you will support orthodontists in delivering exceptional patient care by preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your expertise will help create confident smiles while maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials for orthodontic procedures. Assist orthodontists during patient examinations, adjustments, and appliance placements using chairside assisting techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including medical documentation, dental terminology, and medical coding in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Epic. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry needs. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Manage appointment scheduling as a dental receptionist, coordinate patient flow, and handle administrative tasks efficiently. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with other general dentistry or specialized procedures like prosthodontics or endodontics as needed. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform chairside assisting confidently within a pediatric dentistry or general dentistry setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding to accurately document procedures and treatments. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about orthodontic treatments and oral health maintenance.
