Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying topical anesthetics Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to ensure patient safety Collaborate with dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards Monitor patient comfort throughout treatments by assessing vital signs and providing reassurance as needed Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to patient care documentation and medical records management Qualifications Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping Excellent patient care skills with the ability to educate and motivate diverse patient populations, including pediatrics Ability to perform dental assisting duties such as chairside assisting during various procedures Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and understanding of HIPAA compliance standards Experience in dental office or clinic settings that emphasizes infection control protocols and documentation accuracy Embark on a rewarding career where your skills make a difference!
