Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and the importance of maintaining healthy habits. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment. Collaborate with dentists and other team members to provide seamless general dentistry services tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all documentation review and data handling processes. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology is essential. Familiarity with Dentrix enhances workflow efficiency. Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and documentation review accurately. Prior exposure to dental assisting duties such as chairside assisting supports comprehensive patient care delivery. Knowledge of medical coding processes related to dental procedures can be advantageous for accurate recordkeeping.
