Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to ensure safe and effective treatment. Provide patient education on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing sensitive medical information properly. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical coding standards. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse age groups, including pediatrics. Familiarity with medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and medical imaging procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing chairside assisting skills and maintaining high standards of aseptic technique.
