Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Conduct medical imaging procedures like X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Review and update medical records accurately within medical records system (XL Dent). Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license with current certification to practice in California. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry backgrounds. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and documentation review processes. Familiarity with medical records systems for efficient record management. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental care. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties seamlessly during procedures involving medical imaging or other treatments. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored diverse patient populations.
