Job Description

Dental Hygienist (bilingual) Mission Neighborhood Health Center Job Category Healthcare Overview Description The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services. We advocate for health equity and deliver innovative, high-quality services responsive to the neighborhoods and diverse communities we serve with a focus on the Latino Spanish-Speaking Communities. We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our Dental Hygienist role. This position reports to the Dental Director and is a Regular, Full Time, Exempt role with a starting annual salary range of $95,000 to $105,000 with full benefits .
Primary Objective:
Responsible for conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g. removing plaque) and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. This position will also help the dentist decide treatments for teeth or gum diseases and handle dental emergencies.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination Sterilize dental instruments properly Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis Clean and help protect patients' teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride) Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques) Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures Take X-rays or dental impressions Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer) Maintain documentation and charts on each patient Monitor supplies Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bilingual — conversational Spanish/English required. Good interpersonal skills. Valid California X-Ray license. 1+ years experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role.
