In this vital role, you will deliver exceptional patient care by performing thorough dental cleanings, assessments, and education while supporting the overall efficiency of the dental practice. Your expertise in dental terminology, infection control, and patient assessment will ensure a positive experience for every patient. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on pediatric and general dentistry, utilizing advanced EMR systems and adhering to HIPAA regulations. If you thrive in a fast-paced setting and are committed to promoting oral health, we want to hear from you! Looking to hire for 1-2 days a week. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, ensuring optimal oral health for patients of all ages. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications to inform treatment plans. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health habits. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Review documentation for accuracy, assist with medical coding, and support infection control protocols within the dental office environment. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry procedures. Proficiency with EMR systems such as softdent or open dental Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and medical records management. Experience with documentation review, medical coding, and understanding of HIPAA compliance standards.
