Duties Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to assess patient health status. Assist with medical imaging procedures like X-rays while ensuring proper technique and safety protocols. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies. Support chairside assisting during various procedures by preparing instruments and materials efficiently. Review and update medical records accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies. Conduct patient assessments to identify oral health issues and communicate findings to the dentist effectively. Maintain strict infection control standards using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Utilize dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review, scheduling, and record keeping. Support pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a friendly atmosphere for young patients and applying specialized techniques. Follow all protocols related to medical coding, documentation review, and medical records management for billing accuracy. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry preferred, with familiarity in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology. Experience with chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry techniques, and dental assisting procedures. Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and handle medical imaging equipment safely. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to pediatric and adult patients alike. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and data security. Demonstrated ability to review documentation thoroughly, support medical coding processes, and maintain detailed medical records. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping.
