Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying sealants or fluoride treatments. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Open Dental. Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures, to ensure patient safety. Collaborate with dentists during procedures utilizing four-handed dentistry for efficiency and comfort. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards. Skills Proficiency in dental software for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs compassionately and effectively. Understanding of HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy at all times.
