Job Description

Endodontic & Periodontic Associates, a large and long established dental specialty group, seeks a full time Dental Hygienist in our Homewood IL office (18130 S Halsted, Homewood
IL 60430
). The Hygienist is needed to perform high quality and efficient dental hygiene procedures including patient screening, maintaining medical history information and periodontal charting. Perform routine examination of head, neck and oral cavity for disease, probe, Cavitron, handscale, and polish teeth. Record information in patient record. Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review patient's charts for the day. Provide hygiene care to patients, including recording all findings and reporting any concerns to Periodontist. Administer local anesthetic when necessary. Take full-mouth radiographs of patients at required periodic intervals. Instruct and/or provide patients with any necessary tools for home care. Refer patient to Periodontist for evaluation if deemed necessary. Review future schedules and make recommendations to Front Desk Staff to fill open appointment times. Contact patients to offer open appointment times. Ensure that patients have future recall appointments scheduled. Send periodic periodontal progress report to DDS. Perform suture removals. Return calls from patients and general dentists in a timely fashion. Attend seminars. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be certified dental hygienist from accredited school. Local anesthetic certification and previous periodontal skills preferred. Must have basic computer skills. Travel to satellite offices is sometimes required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. 50% standing and walking 50% sitting Manual Dexterity
HUMAN AND GUEST RELATIONS 1.
Approach to the patient is sensitive and courteous. 2. Greets everyone including patients, visitors, families, and employees. Customer Focus is the objective whether their internal and/or external. 3. Effectively relates with patients, family and visitors; dentist and ancillary departments. 4. Wears ID badge and appropriate uniforms at all times when on duty. 5. Utilizes appropriate communication skills. 6. Maintains acceptable attendance record as per E & P policy.
PATIENT SATISFACTION 1.
Prioritizes the needs of Endodontic & Periodontic, Ltd patients and visitors. 2. Communicates the needs of patients and staff through the proper chain of command. 3. Follows up on any questions and/or concerns a patient, visitor, and/or colleague might have. 4. Continuously looks for, suggests and works on better ways to conduct work. 5. Is open to new ideas and changes; encourages others to do the same. 6. Promotes teamwork and partnerships 7. Treats each employee as an equal and valued member of the team; works cooperatively with other employees to complete the work. 8. Willingly flexes to meet changing workload demands and priorities. 9.
