Google Chrome, Safari Description This position will provide preventive, therapeutic and educational dental hygiene serves for patients. Incumbent will provide examination, removal of deposits and stains, apply local medications and prepare impressions for casts. The position provides services in areas of patient care, clinic duties and educational/supervisory functions of oral health. •This Position is ON SITE only• Examples of Duties
PATIENT CARE 100
% Asses dental and medical conditions of patients. Documents dental history, chief complaint and pertinent observations Deliver direct patient care including: routine treatment, scaling, polishing, x-ray, application of sealants, fluoride treatment and other related procedures within scope of practice. Develop and implement individualized dental care plans for patient. Communicates plans between patients and dentist effectively. Perform patient education and teaching under the supervision of dentist. Provide chair side assistance to dentist in special tests, procedures and complex treatments. Assist in preparation of patient care area. Prepare reports and assists with patient reception, calls and scheduling. Document procedure codes for services rendered. Perform other duties assigned. Qualifications Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer Current/valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the State of Illinois. Current/ valid CPR Certification. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Ability to deal effectively with others. Ability to stand and work for long hours and in awkward positions. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures. Knowledge of instruments and equipment employed for minor oral surgery procedures. Knowledge of clinical concepts in a private office and/or dental institution. Ability to effectively use computer software. Condition of Employment Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date .
