In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing professional dental cleanings, assessments, and preventive treatments. Your expertise will help ensure our patients maintain healthy smiles while experiencing a welcoming and comfortable environment. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow all HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and secure handling of medical records. Support infection control procedures by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment. Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring proper coding for procedures and billing purposes. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient experiences. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings; experience with pediatric patients is a plus. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality protocols in healthcare settings. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
