In this energetic and rewarding position, you will provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, educate patients on oral hygiene practices, and support the overall efficiency of our dental practice. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a positive environment that encourages patient trust and satisfaction. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Assess patient oral health by conducting visual examinations and recording findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems). Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to ensure patient safety during procedures. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Maintain strict infection control protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization of instruments, in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review medical history forms and documentation to ensure accurate medical records and facilitate appropriate treatment planning. Support pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized knowledge of pediatrics to ensure gentle, effective care for young patients. Document all patient interactions thoroughly, including medical coding for billing purposes, ensuring accuracy in medical records. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in dental office or clinic environment. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience performing chairside assisting tasks alongside hygienists or dentists is advantageous. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to effectively care for children's unique needs. Ability to review documentation thoroughly to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA. Prior experience with general dentistry procedures, including patient assessment and documentation review, is desirable.
