Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. We are a private dental general office, not a chain location. Well established for over 20 years, great community reputation and location. This is part-time position. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent clinical skills, and a thorough understanding of dental procedures and protocols. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in maintaining oral health, supporting diagnosis and treatment planning, and ensuring a positive patient experience. Your expertise in preventive care and patient education will contribute significantly to our practice's reputation for excellence. Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct initial patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history, and dental radiographs using medical imaging equipment. Assist the dentist during various procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring proper infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures and provide compassionate care to pediatric and adult patients alike. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Manage documentation review, medical coding, and billing support related to dental procedures. Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to infection control standards and proper sterilization protocols. Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to patient scheduling and record management. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification in CPR. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with familiarity in dental terminology. Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience with chairside assisting, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and documentation review. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for maintaining patient confidentiality. Prior experience working in dental clinics or offices that utilize EMR systems is highly desirable.
