Duties Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to ensure safe and effective treatment. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to pediatric or general dentistry needs. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical coding standards. Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-focused patient care to create a welcoming environment for young patients. Skilled in chairside assisting with aseptic techniques during various dental procedures. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and interpret medical imaging results for comprehensive patient assessment. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about oral health practices. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements and medical terminology relevant to dental practice operations.
