Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature to assess patient health status. Assist with dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort for both patient and provider. Conduct medical imaging procedures like X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Review patient medical records and documentation to ensure accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Support pediatric dentistry cases by providing gentle care tailored to children's needs, ensuring a positive experience for young patients. Skills Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for accurate documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Ability to communicate clearly with patients about treatment plans and dental procedures. Knowledge of medical imaging techniques and the ability to interpret findings relevant to dental health. Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure confidentiality of all medical records and patient information.
