Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist dentists during examinations and procedures with chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry for efficiency and comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging, including X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Requirements Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state licensing boards. Proven experience in general dentistry or dental clinics with proficiency in dental terminology and medical coding. Familiarity with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record management. Knowledge of infection control standards, anatomy, medical terminology, and pediatric dentistry best practices. Ability to perform chairside assisting with precision in pediatric dentistry settings when needed. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical records management to protect patient confidentiality. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
