Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain patient oral health. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, ensuring accurate documentation for each visit. Assist with chairside procedures during general dentistry treatments, supporting dentists with four-handed dentistry techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to their needs. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Maintain a clean and sterile environment by following strict infection control standards and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Requirements Valid Dental Hygiene license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards. Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry experience. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Ability to perform dental assisting duties including chairside assisting and managing medical imaging equipment. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
