Duties Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup, ensuring optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, fluoride treatments, and providing post-treatment instructions. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and the importance of regular dental visits to promote lifelong oral health habits. Manage medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support the dental team with general dentistry procedures, patient documentation review, and medical coding as needed for billing purposes. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings with familiarity in dental assisting procedures and chairside assisting techniques. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and providing care tailored to pediatric patients is a plus. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
