Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque and calculus, and applying fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to ensure safe and effective treatment. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced imaging equipment while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health record (Open Dental). Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term health habits. Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Skills Proficiency in dental software systems (ours is Open Dental) for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures. Ability to accurately perform X-ray procedures while ensuring patient safety. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to diverse patient needs. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including infection control management and aseptic techniques. Knowledge of medical coding and documentation review for accurate billing processes. Effective communication skills to explain treatment plans clearly and foster trust with patients.
