Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment plans. Assist with chairside procedures, providing support during various dental treatments in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health. Utilize dental software such as Dentrix for accurate documentation review, charting, and maintaining detailed medical and dental records. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment that complies with HIPAA regulations. Support the dental team with medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and other clinical tasks to enhance patient care efficiency. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification. Proven experience working in dental offices or clinics, preferably with pediatric dentistry exposure. Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical coding practices. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties including four-handed dentistry techniques and documentation review. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
