Job Description

Registered Dental Hygienist -
Public Health Location:
1090 Goat Springs Road, Taos, NM 87571
Hours:
8am to 5pm Monday-Friday-Excluding Federal Holidays Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis (professional cleaning - removal of plaque, calculus and stains), scaling and root planning, oral debridement, periodontal assessments, oral cancer screenings, and radiographic procedures Apply topical fluorides and other preventive agents Apply pit and fissure sealants Deliver locally delivered antimicrobials, to include prescribing, administering or dispensing therapeutic agents Fabricate temporary restorations and clean/polish removable dental appliances as permitted Administer local anesthesia Identify and chart conditions of decay and periodontal disease Assist with dental and medical emergencies within scope of practice Prepare treatment rooms and patients in accordance with established protocols Skills Proficiency in dental office management software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix. Strong knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and pediatric-specific care techniques. Expertise in chairside assisting with a focus on pediatric patients and four-handed dentistry methods. Familiarity with vital signs measurement, medical imaging procedures, and anatomy knowledge relevant to oral health. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively. Understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and documentation review processes. Experience in infection control practices, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile clinical environment. Knowledge of general dentistry procedures along with proficiency in dental assisting tasks. Ability to utilize EMR systems efficiently for documentation review and medical coding processes. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and dental documentation. Requirements:
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution Current, active, unrestricted Dental Hygienist license from a U.S. state or territory Authorization to administer local anesthetics (if applicable under state law) Minimum of three (3) years of dental hygiene experience, including adult and pediatric populations Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Valid state driver's license
