Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, ensuring comfort and safety for young patients through gentle chairside assistance. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical history in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment procedures, and the importance of regular dental visits to promote long-term health. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance and patient confidentiality. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry practices that enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Ability to assess vital signs accurately and recognize medical emergencies or abnormal findings requiring prompt attention. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly and empathetically to diverse patient populations.
