Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Must administer local anesthetic as needed. Assess patient oral health status through thorough examinations and document findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems). Take and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Monitor vital signs and assess medical history to identify any health concerns that may impact dental treatment. Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and documentation review for accurate recordkeeping. Experience with EMR systems is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and medical coding practices. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics.
