Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and interpret vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates to assess patient health status. Conduct medical imaging procedures like X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, supporting the dentist during treatments. Review and update medical records accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review. Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Maintain infection control standards through aseptic technique, sterilization procedures, and adherence to OSHA guidelines. Skills Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices. Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-focused patient care is highly desirable. Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Ability to perform patient assessment effectively, including vital signs measurement and medical history review. Familiarity with infection control protocols, sterilization processes, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice.
