Job Description

Join our growing Toothday Family Dentistry team in Donna, Texas! We're looking for a special and passionate Registered Dental Hygienist who is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a friendly, patient-focused environment. Key Responsibilities:
Preventive & Periodontal Care:
Perform thorough dental cleanings (prophylaxis), non-surgical periodontal therapy (scaling and root planing), and periodontal maintenance to help patients achieve optimal oral health. Apply fluoride treatments and take dental X-rays, reviewing them for signs of gum disease.
Patient Education:
Educate patients of all ages on proper oral hygiene techniques and home care, including brushing, flossing, and post-treatment instructions. Encourage and enable patients to maintain and improve their oral health habits for long-term benefits.
Clinical Support & Exams:
Conduct preliminary dental exams - including periodontal screenings, hard-tissue and oral cancer checks - and record your observations in patient charts. Assist the dentist in co-diagnosing dental conditions and formulating comprehensive treatment plans to address patients' needs.
Record-Keeping & Infection Control:
Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and treatment notes in our Dentrix practice management software (experience with Dentrix Ascend is a plus). Ensure strict sterilization protocols are followed: properly clean and sterilize instruments, set up and break down operatory trays, and keep treatment rooms clean, disinfected, and well-stocked.
Hygiene Inventory & Recall Management:
Oversee hygiene supply and inventory control (e.g., hygiene supplies, X-ray materials, home-care aids) to ensure the operatory is always prepared. Help manage the patient continuing care/recall system to achieve high patient retention and timely recall appointments.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with dentists, dental assistants, and front office staff to ensure a seamless patient experience and efficient patient flow. Participate in daily morning huddles and staff meetings to coordinate patient care and contribute to a positive team environment. Foster a friendly, professional atmosphere where patients feel welcome and comfortable throughout their visit.
Qualifications & Skills:
Licensed RDH:
Current Texas Registered Dental Hygienist license in good standing (required). Compliance with all Texas State Board of Dental Examiners regulations for dental hygiene practice.
Clinical Experience:
1+ year of experience as a Dental Hygienist preferred (new graduates are welcome to apply). Local anesthesia certification (LIA) is a plus (in line with Texas hygienist regulations), but not required.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in standard dental hygiene procedures and dental technology . Experience with digital X-ray equipment and Dentrix dental software (or similar) is strongly preferred.
Patient Care & Communication:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, patient-focused demeanor with the ability to make patients feel comfortable and well-cared-for. Must be skilled in educating patients about oral health and effectively answering questions about treatments and home care.
Team Player:
Collaborative attitude and ability to work closely with dentists and support staff. Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive in helping the team maintain a smooth workflow and positive office culture. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, as many of our patients are Spanish-speaking (not required, but beneficial in our community).

Work Hours:
Full-time position, approximately 36-40 hours per week . Our typical office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturday mornings . We can offer a consistent schedule with some flexibility as needed. (Specific schedule to be confirmed upon hiring.)
