Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to assess patient health status. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Conduct medical imaging procedures like X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Review patient medical records and documentation to ensure accurate records management in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health habits. Support pediatric dentistry by providing specialized care tailored for children and adolescents, ensuring a positive experience for young patients. Skills Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems Eaglesoft for documentation review and data entry. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience with dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, dental coding, and managing medical imaging equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, demonstrating patience and empathy. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Knowledge of general dentistry procedures and the ability to support complex treatment plans through detailed documentation review. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
