JOB SUMMARY
The Dental Hygienist plays a key role in supporting patients' oral health by working collaboratively with dentists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include assessing oral health conditions, educating patients on effective oral hygiene practices, removing hard and soft deposits from tooth surfaces, and applying preventive treatments. This role adheres to established policies and procedures to ensure care, comfort, and safety remain the top priorities. The Dental Hygienist contributes to a positive patient experience and supports overall clinical excellence in alignment with the mission and standards of the organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Utilizes the dental hygiene process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care in alignment with clinical standards and patient needs. Performs diagnostic and preventive clinical procedures under the direction of a dentist, following established policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective oral health care. Accurately documents assessments, procedures, and education in the patient's electronic dental record to support continuity of care and compliance. Identifies and addresses patient education needs to promote self-care and support long-term oral health outcomes. Provides professional customer service in person and by phone to respond to patient concerns, schedule needs, and general inquiries. Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and support the delivery of high-quality oral health services. Conducts routine cleaning and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment to ensure proper function and safety in the clinical environment. Collaborates with the dental team to ensure efficient and effective patient care; general patients, pediatric, geriatric, and special needs patients as needed. Adheres to all infection control and sterilization procedures. Maintains strict adherence to scheduled work hours with regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene. Preferred two years experience practicing as a Dental Hygienist.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
Unrestricted Wisconsin Registered Dental Hygienist license. State of Wisconsin certification in the administration of local anesthesia. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire, or within three-months of employment. Valid Wisconsin Driver's License required with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), per FHC guidelines.
