Job Description

ABOUT US
We are a small, boutique dental lab that focuses on fabricating surgical guides and full arch implant-supported teeth for dental offices throughout the country. We are owned by two local dental specialists who have their dental practice under the same roof. This practice is our lab's largest client and these two doctors work in the lab as well. Our small team consists of hard working, artistic, and motivated individuals. We are known as a high-end dental lab that puts out some of the best quality prosthetics and surgical guides. We don't advertise, but continue to see growth, a testament to what we are doing for our clients. We are fun, easy-going people who enjoy our chance to build little pieces of art that go into patients' mouths and change their lives. We often have our clients (dentists) sharing photos with us of their patients with the teeth we have made. This is the most fulfilling part of the whole thing. We are looking to fill this entry level position with someone who has some experience in the dental lab industry already and is looking to expand their skill set and adopt our processes & procedures.
ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Pouring and Mounting
  • This is the area we'd prefer you to bring some basic knowledge and experience in.
Because we are a full arch lab, we do things a bit differently than traditional dental labs, so it is important that you are willing to adapt to "our way" of doing things. In this role you will be responsible for all of our pouring and mounting including pouring models from impressions or luted jigs, mounting cases with physical bites or hand articulating them, trimming physical bites, adding soft tissue, etc. If you have no idea what we just mentioned, this role may not be for you. Contouring green state zirconia
  • This will be the bulk of your role.
In our lab, we design our arches full-contour meaning you will have to hand contour secondary anatomy and the gingival anatomy. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of tooth morphology and a high focus on esthetics. It is very important that you possess the artistic and technical skills needed to make an arch look as realistic as possible. Cleaning up printed products
  • When a design is 3D printed, there are many small columns that connect the design to the plate on which it is built.
These are called supports and when they are removed, small bumps are left behind. Sometimes we send designs out to be printed in metal...which is more work to clean up. Our goal is to return the design to how it was intended to be, without this added roughness. So care is taken to grind/polish until they are gone. Operate ceramic furnaces
  • and other dental lab equipment that requires you to follow procedures/safety protocols.
We hope that gives you an idea of what the work is like. Pay will be determined based on experience and will go up with future experience and gained skills, but the starting range for qualified candidates is $28-30/hour. Here are the qualities we feel make someone a good fit for the team and the job: Artistic eye
  • You have to be good at seeing something in your mind and getting your hands to make it look that way. We pride ourselves in the quality of art that goes into our teeth (and even our stone models). This is therefore a must!! Attention to detail
  • We are building tiny sculptures with finicky materials. You have to have patience to follow critical steps through the process to not only get a beautiful end result, but also have it function well in the mouth without breaking. If you are sloppy with your art, this isn't the job for you. Team player
  • We are all easy-going people who like to talk and laugh.
We would prefer someone who fits this dynamic. We aren't looking for overly shy or overly strong personalities. Just someone who is in the middle and wants to be a part of a team. While your day-to-day will include a lot of alone time, we also want someone who is comfortable socializing. And while socializing is fun, we need someone able to buckle down, put on headphones and get a lot of work done. Teachable
  • We have a very particular workflow.
While we are willing to teach it to those without experience, we need someone who can pick up on things quickly. We also need you to listen to our critiques as we get you closer and closer to what we are needing from you (which is very specific, sometimes down to microns). If you feel you are a good fit for this type of work, let's get together and talk. We can answer any questions you have and show you some examples of the stuff we do. Sometimes it's nice to see it yourself.
