This paid externship offers an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical skills while supporting the delivery of exceptional dental care. You will work closely with licensed dentists and dental staff to assist in various procedures, enhance patient comfort, and expand your knowledge of dental practices across multiple specialties. This role is perfect for motivated students seeking practical exposure to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and more. Duties Assist dentists during patient examinations and procedures using chairside assisting techniques and aseptic protocols Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are followed Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining infection control standards Record detailed medical and dental histories, vital signs, and medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist Operate advanced dental imaging equipment like 3D scanners and handle medical imaging with precision Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times Skills Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Epic, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately while adhering to radiation safety standards Familiarity with medical coding, documentation, and records management for accurate billing and compliance Knowledge of pediatric dentistry techniques and pediatric patient management strategies Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and support team collaboration Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail This externship is designed to empower aspiring dental professionals by providing real-world experience that enhances your clinical competence.
