Job Description

Join our Team as an Orthodontic Records & Sterilization Technician! Are you looking for an Orthodontic, entry level position with endless growth opportunities? We are currently seeking a meticulous, energetic and detail-oriented Orthodontic Records and Sterilization Technician to join our team. This essential role ensures that our practice adheres to the highest standards of infection control while simultaneously providing our new patients with an exceptional first visit.
Position Overview:
The Orthodontic Records and Sterilization Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment within the dental office. You will also play a key role in providing our new orthodontic consultations with their first experience in our department by taking their initial photographs and radiographs.
Key Sterilization Responsibilities:
Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to the office's infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines. Ensure all dental equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored in compliance with safety and sanitation standards. Monitor and track sterilization supplies and equipment and notify the appropriate team members when reordering is necessary. Set up and prepare treatment rooms for procedures, ensuring that all necessary instruments and materials are sterilized, organized, and ready for use. Clean and disinfect dental operatory rooms, dental chairs, countertops, and other surfaces to maintain a hygienic environment between patient appointments. Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards to promote a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff. Maintain records related to sterilization procedures, including logs for instrument sterilization cycles and other safety measures. Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants to ensure that instruments and materials are available and properly prepared for each patient's care. Help maintain safety protocols for waste disposal, infection control, and handling of hazardous materials.
Key Records Responsibilities:
Extraoral and Intraoral photography Cephalometric and Panoramic radiographs Software uploading for provider review
Qualifications:
Previous experience in sterilization or infection control in a dental or healthcare setting is preferred but not required. Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control standards. Attention to detail and the ability to follow precise protocols to ensure proper sterilization and safety. Ability to work efficiently and independently, managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in dental hygiene, infection control, or related fields are a plus. Must be able to lift and carry heavy supplies and equipment when needed.
Work Environment:
The primary location will be within the dental office or clinic, specifically in the sterilization and instrument processing area. The environment is controlled to ensure cleanliness, safety, and infection control.
