Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Support Services serves the needs of the UNC Adams School of Dentistry and guides its operations in meeting the requirements and commitments in teaching, patient care, research and administrative programs. Position Summary The Dental Equipment Repair Technician position serves as the lead repair technician for all of ASOD dental clinics. This position is responsible for providing technical trouble shooting, repairing of dental equipment, dental lights, x-ray machines, minor repairs on hand pieces, motors, and vacuum issues. This position will educate students, staff, and providers on the best practices of handling dental equipment. This position will liaison with vendors such as ADEC for ordering parts, handling warranty items, and troubleshooting difficult issues. The Dental Equipment Repair Technician will develop maintenance schedules in coordination with the Clinic managers to make for a seamless transition from operational time to maintenance downtime. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Management Preferences Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Have an operational knowledge of basic hand tools such as, but not limited to: wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc. Basic knowledge of air, vacuum systems, and gases. Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements Must be able to lift/move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Campus Security Authority Responsibilities Not Applicable.
