Job Description
Valley Health Team is hiring a Full Time Dentist at our Firebaugh, CA location. •Competitive Salary and Bonus! •
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Staff Dentist is responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventative dental care in a community health center setting. The Staff Dentist supervises the dental assistants and dental hygienists of Valley Health Team in the absence of the Dental Director.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Examine individuals requesting care, diagnose their dental/oral conditions, prescribe and carry out, or direct others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines. 2. Record patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided; in addition, the staff dentist shall complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or paperwork as shall be required from time to time by the organization. 3. Educate individuals in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention. 4. Prepare specific reports as requested by the community health center's Dental Director. 5. Assist in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of community health center staff as requested. 6. Design, develop, and implement appropriate dental department policies, protocols and procedures as directed by the Dental Director which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards. 7. Assist in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as requested. 8. Participate in short and long term program planning for the Dental Department including development of goals and objectives. 9. Provide consultation to the CEO and the Board of Directors regarding dental and oral health issues in the absence of the Dental Director. 10. Assist in the coordination and integration of the corporation's dental programs and services with other corporate programs and services for the welfare of the corporation's patients. 11. Responsible for personal full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality. 12. On a temporary basis, may be required to work at any satellite facility. 13. Contribute to team effort by assisting other departments as needed and while maintaining confidentiality of VHT's business. 14. Work cooperatively with all staff members and outside sources in a professional manner to deliver a high level of service. 15. Practice CICARE phone etiquette during all phone interactions. 17. Always exercise courtesy whenever patients, family members, visitors and co-workers are present. 18. Act as a role model, verbally and behaviorally demonstrating skill, enthusiasm, positive problem solving, commitment and loyalty to the profession and the organization. 21. Engage as a member of the care team caring for individuals in the community 22. Prep for and lead daily huddles 23. Promote and educate on evidence-based preventive care, chronic care needs, and self-management support 24. Deliver clinical screening tests and immunizations 25.Follow applicable regulations:
Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, andCLIA. 26.
Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and The Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organization standards. 27. Perform other related duties, which may be inclusive, but not listed in the job description.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate of an accredited dental school 2. Currently California State license to practice Dentistry 3. Current Basic Life Support card 4. Current Radiology certification 5. Current DEA certificate 6. Modern office practices and procedures (including email) 7. Must show professionalism at all times especially when working with patients 8. Fluent conversational English/Spanish preferred 9. Ability to be flexible with work schedule and available to work at all site locations, as needed 10. Must have own transportation, valid California Driver's License and current proof of automobile insurance coverage 11. Demonstrated ability to provide world-class patient experience using CICARE principles and practices. Ability to be proactive and to go above and beyond the call of duty; take initiative to provide a world class patient experience in all encounters via email, phone or in personTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
The office setting is a normal work environment. Occasionally work during early morning, evening or weekend. May be subjected to temperature variances in the office.TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: Requires sitting, standing, or walking for up to eight hours a day. Some bending, stretching, or reaching may be necessary. Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required on occasion. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contact.WORK ENVIRONMENT
