Coronary Intensive Care Unit (J31) J31 is a 24-bed Coronary Intensive Care Unit dedicated to the care of adults with complex, high-acuity cardiac conditions. The unit serves a diverse patient population, including those experiencing myocardial infarction, dysrhythmias, coronary artery disease requiring PCI and other interventions, chronic heart failure, valvular disease, aortic aneurysms, and endocarditis. Many of the most critically ill patients present with cardiogenic shock or advanced cardiomyopathy, requiring rapid, highly specialized intervention. The team on J31 delivers advanced, technology-driven care supported by continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump therapy, therapeutic hypothermia, and ventricular assist devices. Comprehensive management also includes mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, and complex pharmacologic support. Care is anchored in vigilant assessment, clinical expertise, and a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to achieve the best possible outcomes for critically ill cardiac patients. A caregiver in this position works day/ night rotation , 7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN , such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter s . Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, 3mental and emotional conditions to an RN. Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: H igh S chool D iploma or GED. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period ( Nursing students required to have BLS prior to hire) One year of recent, full-time patient care experience Additional education/training may substitute for some/ all of the stated experience ( i.e. mental health experience) Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
